Large-scale Russian Assaults Cut Power Throughout Ukraine's Capital

Power facilities targeted in Ukraine
The country's energy systems have faced increased attacks in the past few days

Throughout the evening, Moscow's missile and drone strikes have caused power cuts in extensive areas of Ukraine's capital, the Ukrainian capital.

A number of civilians were injured while local people in eastern neighborhoods were left without electricity and faced disruption to drinking water, according to local authorities.

Meanwhile, a minor was lost their life in a distinct Russian drone strike in the Zaporizhzhia region in the southern area, as reported by regional authorities.

Russian forces has escalated strikes on power infrastructure over the last fortnight, while the country's government has called for "real steps" from partner nations to apply pressure on Moscow.

"The necessity is not symbolic gestures but decisive action - from the US, Europe and the major economies - in delivering defensive weapons and implementing penalties," he wrote in a public message.

Authorities reported that 450 drones and more than 30 projectiles targeted energy facilities, characterizing such strikes as "cynical and calculated" and against "critical infrastructure" as temperatures become colder.

Government representatives said Russia was "launching a major assault" and repair crews were striving to restore power.

A barrage of missiles hit electrical systems and civilian homes in the capital.

Multiple people wounded in the strikes on the city have been transported for medical care, as confirmed by city authorities.

Regional authorities said the urban area came under intense attacks overnight. A seven-year-old child died and several individuals were hurt.

The attacks follow periods of aerial attacks in the territory, portions of which are occupied by Russian forces.

All of Ukraine is in a state of readiness for advanced weapon attacks, which are tougher to detect.

National leaders told reporters that Moscow was intentionally trying to damage the national power system, with strikes already impacting fuel infrastructure.

Authorities confirmed utility staff and authorities were preparing for additional strikes.
